Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the misidentification of the conveyance of piled-up cut sheets with jamming in a copier which emplys cut sheets, by controlling the timing of jamming detection in terms of a pile-up conveyance detection signal.
CONSTITUTION: When there is no pile-up conveyance detection signal from a photoelectric sensor, delayed jamming can be detected by a reflection-type sensor after the lapse of time t2 since the application of a paper supply instruction. In that case, if paper is detected, a central processing unit judges that there is no delayed jamming, or if paper is detected after the lapse of time t3, the central processing unit judges that there is jamming. When a pile-up conveyance detection signal from the photoelectric sensor is received, the timing of jamming detection is delayed by prescribed time. When piled-up cut sheets are conveyed, detecting action after the lapse of the time t2 normally results in misidentification with jamming because the conveyance is made difficult due to the pile-up and is delayed. For that reason, the timing of jamming detection in delayed by the prescribed time under pile-up conveyance to avoid misidentificaton.
