Abstract

PURPOSE:To select either decrease of power consumption by intermittent receiving or elevation of a calling response speed, by constituting a system so that an intermittent receiving mode and a continuous receiving mode can be changed over by a switch. CONSTITUTION:A selective calling signal is divided into plural groups G1-Gn, and they are sent out in series. Each group contains one synchronizing word and plural calling words, and also the synchronizing word are constituted of a frame synchronizing code and a group synchroning code. In case of the first mode, in accordance with said synchronizing code, a receiver economizes power consumption by stopping a part of the operation of the receiver except the period of the selective calling signal of a group to which it belongs. In case of the second mode, the hole receiver is operated continuously by stopping a function of the group synchronizing code detecting means. The transmission side sends out a calling word by the timing of its group to a receiver of the first mode, and sends out a calling word by the timing of an optional group to a receiver of the second mode.
