Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove jammed paper easily by releasing pressure between fixing rollers within the time when the front edge of normally conveyed transfer paper reaches the position where it is sandwiched between conveyor rollers, when the jam is detected by a jam detecting means. CONSTITUTION:If paper is jammed at a fixing roller part or wound around a roller 11 or 12, a switch SW2 does not turn on even a prescribed time after a switch SW1 turns on, so when the switch SW2 detects the jam, a solenoid 38 is turned on to put a clutch 25 in operation, and a pressure roller 12 is lowered to turn a cam by 180 deg.; after a spring clutch 25 is freed, a clutch 22 for coupling a driving source with a gear 23 is put in a free state, thereby stopping the rotation of the fixing rollers 11.
