CONSTITUTION:A map data for displaying a road map of a specific district, and a map data of a road map of plural districts being adjacent to its specific district are stored in advance in a storage means, and when an updating instruction is generated from an updating instructing means, a specific map data in a map data for the road map of plural districts being adjacent to a specific district which is being displayed at present is read out from the storage means, so that its corresponding road map is updated and displayed on a display means. For instance, a control means is constituted of a reader 3, a microcomputer 4 and a CRT (cathode ray tube) controller 5, and on a CRT display device 6, a map of the specific district and its running route or a character are CRY-displayed.
