NEW MATERIAL:3"-N-Methyl-4"-C-methyl-3',4'-deoxykanamycin B shown by the formulaIor 1-N-[(S)-4-amino-2-hydroxybutyryl]derivative of its 4"-epimer and its acid addition salt.
USE: An antibacterial substance. Having improved antibacterial power against various kinds of bacteria including resistant bacteria.
PROCESS: For example, three amino groups and one methylamino group except the amino group at 1 position of a compound shown by the formula II are partially or completely protected with an amino-protecting group, to give a partially protected compound shown by the formula III (when all R1 are H, 1W4R2 are monofunctional amino-protecting groups and 0W3R2 are H; when 1W3 pairs of R1 and R2 form bifunctional amino-protecting groups, the remaining R1 and R2 are all H, or the one is H and the other is monofunctional amino-protecting group). This compound shown by the formula II is reacted with a compound shown by the formula III or its amino-protecting compound or reactive derivative to give a 1-N-acylated compound shown by the formula IV, and the amino- protecting group is eliminated, to give a compound shown by the formulaI.
