Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the maintenance ratio of light flux by encapsulating sodium iodide, scandium iodide and cesium iodide, in addition to rare gases and quicksilver, in a light emitting tube and by selecting the electrode brightness temperature at within a certain specific extent. CONSTITUTION:A quarts glass light-emitting tube 2 is equipped with electrodes 1, 1 at its both sides, and in this tube 2 are encapsulated iodides with cesium iodide in addition to sodium iodide and scandium iodide together with rare gases and quicksilver. The electrodes are made of pure tungsten, whose brightness temperature shall be selected at within 2,500-2,800 deg.C. Accordingly, metal scandium produced by dissociation of the scandium iodide or metal silicon by dissociation of silicon iodide, which are attached to the electrodes 1, will evaporate immediately, causing scarce evaporation of the tungsten, so that walls of the light emitting tube 2 will never blacken to ensure enhancement of the maintenance ratio of light flux.
