Abstract

PURPOSE:To synthesize two images by the use of positive originals by performing charging of a polarity reverse from that of the charging process before the 1st exposure between the 1st exposure and the 2nd exposure. CONSTITUTION:When a photoreceptor is uniformly charged (for example, positive charge V2 volt) and is exposed with positive original images, charge escapes from the background part of the original and said part assumes zero potential. Next, if it is charged to the polarity reverse from the previous one (negative charge -V2 volt) to make the image information part zero potential and if the negative original images are exposed thereto, the charge of said image information part escapes and said part assumes zero potential. In the event, the parts of the 1st image and the 2nd image are of zero potential and the background part is of constant potential (-V2 volt) and therefore if these are reversally developed (developing bias VB volt), the toner sticks on the parts of the 1st image and the 2nd image and the synthesized images of a positive original (an oridinary original such as documents) and a negative original (form overlay or the like) are obtained.
