CONSTITUTION:A magnetic block 5 with high magnetic permeability in contaction with a vertical magnetic recording medium 4, an insulating material 6, a Hall element 7, an insulating material 6', and a magnetic block 8 for improving the reproduction efficiency of the Hall element 7 are stacked to constitute a main magnetic pole. Four electrodes 9 are provided at terminals of the Hall element 7; one couple of electrodes are input terminals connected to a DC power source, and the other couple of electrodes are output terminals for a playback output. To make the area of contact with the medium 4 less than that of the magnetism sensitive part of the Hall element 7, the tip of the block 5 is tapered. Since the Hall element is arranged closely to the block, recording density per unit area is increased and reproduction sensitivity is improved.
