Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the throwing power and uniformity of coloring and to make the reproduction of tones sure and easy in a method of electrolyzing the Al formed with an anodic oxidation film with a bath of phosphoric acid or the like prior to an electrolytic coloring treatment by rinsing the Al with warm water after said electrolyzing.
CONSTITUTION: The anodic-oxidized film formed on Al is electrolyzed in a bath consisting essentially of ≥1 kind of org. acids contg. OH or COOH groups, orthophosphoric acid, pyrophosphoric acid, phosphorous acid, chromic acid, sulfuric acid amide, high concn. sulfuric acid of or their salts ≥40V/V%. Thereafer, the Al changed of the properties of the anodic-oxidized film is rinsed with warm water, by which the oxidized film is made uniform over the entire part of the Al while maintaining its activity even with the rugged Al in particular. As a result, variances in the deposition of metals in the electrolytic coloring of a post stage are eliminated.
