Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve remarkably the thermal responsiveness of a heat sensitive recording material wherein a heat-sensitive layer capable of forming color when heated is provided on a support by adding an N-substituted hydroxynaphthoamide compound to the heat sensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:In a heat-sensitive recording material wherein a heat sensitive layer capable of forming color when heated, composed of a colorless or light- colored color forming dye compound (e.g.: dye compound of fluoran series, spiropyran series, etc.) and an acidic substance including an organic acid or a phenol compound (e.g.: 4,4'-isopropylidenediphenol, phthalic anhydride, activated clay) is provided on a support, the heat-sensitive layer is caused to contain an N-substituted hydroxynaphthoamide compound shown by the formula[wherein R is substituted alkyl, phenyl, benzyl, phenethyl, naphthyl; O.R is alkoxy; X is halogen, symbol II show that there is no need for existence of a substituent between 2 lines]. The material shows an epoch-making thermal responsiveness wherein static and dynamic color forming properties are remarkably improved.
