Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve the best circuit selection based upon information on whether the voice channel of a satellite terminal station is free and whether a circuit between the terminal station and an exchange is disused, by an exchange which receives said information, by sending the information through a satellite circuit. CONSTITUTION:A switching network consists of a satellite 1, satellite terminal stations 5-7, and exchanges 8-17, and satellite circuits 2-4 are constituted by using a common signal circuit and many voice circuits on frequency multiplex basis. One satellite terminal station, e.g. 5 detects whether its voice channel is free and whether the exchange 8 is used, and sends the detection results to exchanges 9 and 10 through the satellite 1 and terminal stations 6 and 7 by using a traffic control channel provided in the common signal circuit. The exchanges 9 and 10 having received the information perform the best circuit selection on the basis of the information so that call loss for the connection of a call passed through the exchange 8 is minimized.
