Abstract

PURPOSE:To relieve a driver from weariness due to staring forward at the time of a traffic jam by a method wherein under the condition where a vehicle is at halt due to the halt of a foregoing vehicle, an alarm is issued when the foregoing vehicle starts running or the distance btween the vehicles is increased. CONSTITUTION:A vehicle speed sensor 1 of the vehicle is connected to a comparing circuit 4, which generates a signal ''1'' when the vehicle speed is O. A distance sensor 2 for the distance L between the vehicle and the foregoing vehicle is connected to a comparing circuit 3, which generates a signal ''1'' when the distance L is smaller than a reference distance LO fed from a reference signal source 5. The outputs from the circuits 3, 4 are fed into an AND circuit 6. When a predetermined time is elaspsed after the circuit 6 generates a signal ''1'', a timer 8 generates a signal ''1''. The output from the timer 8 and an inverted signal formed from the output of the comparing circuit 3 by an inverter 9 are fed into an AND circuit 10. The circuit 10 operates an alarm 12 through an amplifier 11 when both the output of the timer 8 and the output of the inverter 9 are ''1''.
