Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a sliding surface of constant melting depth and melting width, and uniform abrasion-resistant strength in the stage of heating and melting the sliding surface of a cam with a torch and forming a hardened white pig iron layer by moving the torch at approximately a constant angle with respect to the sliding surface of the cam. CONSTITUTION:The B-C in the connection part 7 of a cam 4 preheated to prescribed temp. is positioned horizontally, and the distance between the electrode 8 of a torch 1 which is faced opposite to the point A and the sliding surface of the cam 4 is set constant. Next, gaseous Ar is ejected through a nozzle 9, and electric current is supplied between the electrode 8 and the cam 4 to heat and melt the sliding surface in a circular shape by the arc generated by this. At this same instant, a driving device 3 is driven with a motor 2 move the torch 1 horizontally up to A-C, thereby heating and melting the sliding surface between these over the prescribed width. Next, when the electrode 8 faces the point C, the movement of the torch 1 is stopped, and the cam 4 is rotated with the center of curvature of an eccentric circle part 6 as a central axis, thence the sliding surface is heated and melted with the electrode 8 from C up to D in the same manner. Thereafter, the sliding areas between D-E, E-F are heated and melted successively, and are cooled, whereby the sliding surface of uniform abrasion-resistant strength is formed.
