Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the operational property of backwashing by enabling to automatically operate the filter apparatus to which a siphon pipe and an opening and closing mechanism are provided by a program control mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: In a filtering condition, a first opening and closing mechanism 22 is opened and other second and third opening and closing mechanisms 23, 25 are closed so as to pass water to be treated through a packing layer 2 and, in a backwashing condition, the first opening and closing mechanism 22 is closed and the other second and third opening and closing mechanisms 23, 25 are opened and, with the water discharge from a water discharge tank 13 by a second siphon pipe 15, the treated water stored in a water tank 5 is reversely flowed to the packing layer 2 until the storing level reaches the level of a backwashing water discharge passage 12. In this case, by automatically changing over a filter tank 3 to the backwashing condition succeedingly in an alternative way by a program control mechanism, a series of operational property such as supply stopping of water to be treated or the like is made available to carry out backwashing. In backwashing, a filter material is floated in water to be treated by utilizing backwashing air to enhance backwashing efficiency.
