Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an engine failure by putting an engine into converter condition at the time of a sudden braking, that is, when after damping, a car velocity is below a set value which is higher than the velocity for releasing lock-up within the set time. CONSTITUTION:When a brake pedal is stepped upon during lock-up condition, a brake switch 10 is closed, and a brake signal SB is changed to a L-level in a time t1. The L-level signal is supplied to a NOR gate, and is inverted to a H- level in a NOT gate to be supplied to a condenser 14. The L-level signal is also supplied to the other input terminal of the NOR gate 15 only during the charging time T1 of the condenser 14, and the NOR gate 15 retains the brake retaining signal SB at a H-level only during T1. At a time t4 when the velocity is lowered to a set value VB, a velocity, comparison circuit 9 sends out a L-level signal from a gate d', so that a velocity comparison signal Sv rises, and a lock- up signal S1 is blocked in a AND gate 20.
