Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform a stable start of a brushless motor without using a position detector for a Hall element or the like by providing means for energizing the specific phase of an armature coil for the prescribed period of time at the starting time and means for applying a rotary magnetic field to the armature coil forcibly from an exterior. CONSTITUTION:When a power source switch 2 is closed ON, a stationary timer circuit 4 operates and produces and control signal S1 for energizing the specific phase of an armature coil 3 to a rotary magnetic field generating circuit 6 and a stationary timer circuit 5 for the prescribed period of time. When the prescribed period is elapsed, the signal S1 becomes OFF, and the circuit 6 outputs drive signals S3-S5 for energizing the U phase to W phase of the coil 3 through a converter 7 to a drive circuit 9. When the prescribed period is further elapsed, a switching signal S2 becomes low, and the drive signal from an induced voltage detector 8 is outputted through the converter 7 to the circuit 9.
