Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the cooling effect of an engine and utilyze terminal spaces of a car body effectively by forming openings on a bumper frame and a bumper cover respectively so that the openings are connected to honeycomb through holes of an energy absorber arranged between the bumper frame and the bumper cover. CONSTITUTION:A front bumper A is composed of a bumper frame 1 with a nearly U-shaped cross section stretching laterally and fixed to the front end of a car body, a bumper cover 2 covering the surface of the frame 1, and an energy absorber 4 arranged between them. A number of honeycomb through holes 5 are provided piercing the energy absorber 4 in the longitudinal direction of the car body, and many openings 6, 7 connecting to said through holes 5 are formed on the bumper frame 1 and the bumper cover 2 respectively. Thereby, air introduction passage 8 which introduces the running wind from the front of the bumper A into an engine room in the rear is formed, allowing a radiator, etc. to be cooled off.
