Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst precursor having poisoning resistance and preventing coking, as the hydrogenation catalyst precursor of a heavy oil, by supporting iron oxide on a titania carrier to which heat stability is imparted by tungsten oxide.
CONSTITUTION: To anatase type titania which is the carrier of a bydrogenation catalyst for a polycyclic aromatics and ash containing heavy oil, heat stability is imparted by tungsten oxide prior to supporting an activator thereto to prevent transformation to rutile type titania and iron oxide is supported to the heat stabilized titania as the activator. This catalyst precursor is highly resistant to a poisoning substance such as ash or halogen in hydrogenation reaction of the heavy oil as well as can be avoid coking.
