Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the original units and changing times of rolls and to improve productivity in rolling of wire rods and steel bars by using a flat rolling method for the fore stage, a slit rolling method for the middle stage and a caliber rolling method for the post stage. CONSTITUTION:In rolling of wire rods and steel bars, materials to be rolled are deformed by press flattening with flat rolls 8 of unidirectional screw down in a rough train successively to materials 9, 9', 9'' as shown by (a), (b), (c). In an intermediate train, these materials are rolled to required square materials 15 by slit rolls 11, 13, 14. Finally, they are rolled with caliber rolls 17, 19, 21, 23 as finishing, whereby wire rods and steel bars are produced.
