Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the lowering of the silage quality, efficiently, by introducing a proper amount of CO2 gas effective to the stabilization of the silage quality at a proper time into a sealed silo.
CONSTITUTION: After charging the silage in the silo 1, the CO2 gas concentration in the silo 1 is kept at ≥50% by introducing a proper amount of CO2 gas in the silo 1 using the appratus A. The introduction of CO2 gas is carried out just after the charge of the silage, or at least before the initiation of the secondary fermentation of the silage 5 or before the fermentation by Clostridium butyricum, into the upper space of the silo or into the plural parts of the stored silage. In place of CO2 gas, liquid CO2 may be introduced directly into the silo to utilize the cold CO2 gas and dry snow (-78.9°C) produced from the liquid CO2.
