Abstract
PURPOSE:To stabilize the light output by the variation of ambient temperature around a semiconductor laser, by equalizing the variation of oscillation threshold current with DC bias current to equalize the variation of differential efficiency with signal current. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor laser is driven by the driving currents (a), (b) constituted of DC bias current and signal current. When the ambient temperature is 20 deg.C, the light output C at peak value 1mW is obtained by equalizing DC bias current with the threshold current 25mA of a semiconductor laser with signal current of 15mA. When 40 deg.C, the light output C at peak value 1mW is obtained by equalizing DC bias current with threshold current of 35mW of laser with signal current of 20mA. Thus, even when the ambient temperatue varies, constantly stable light output is obtained.
