Abstract
PURPOSE:To relax the compressive stress generating from superconductive breakdown by a method wherein a compressive insulator is inserted between a spool and a coil, and at the same time, the thickness of the insulator is increased at the section corresponding to the circular part of the coil. CONSTITUTION:When a superconductive field coil 3 is wound around a spool 16 in race track form, a compressive insulator 17 is interposed between the spool 16 and the coil 3. In regard to the thickness, the insulator is formed in such a manner that the part corresponding to the circular section of the coil 3 is formed thicker than the other part. Accordingly, the coil 3 can be held securely in a steady state, and the compressive stress is relaxed by the thickly formed compressive insulator when a superconductive breakdown occurs.
