Abstract

PURPOSE: A specific alloy is jetted from a spinning nozzle of a specified diameter and solidified by cooling inside a rotor and the filament is wound up simultaneously to produce the titled filament of round cross section, high strength and heat resistance.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy consisting of less than 17.5atom% Si, 5W22.5atom% B where the sum of Si and B is 17.5W32.5atom%, less than 10atom% at least one of Nb and Ta and substantially remaining Fe is jetted from a spinning nozzle. The hole diameter D of the nozzle 2 satisfies the equation: D≤270-91Si-101- 251B+Si/2-201 (D is the diameter of the nozzle in μm; Si is Siatom% in the alloy; B is atom% in the same). The jetted metal flow is solidified by cooling in the rotor 6 containing a coolant 8 and wound up on the inner wall of the rotor 6 as a filament 13 by its centrifugal force.
