Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve an electromagnetic conversion characteristic of a magnetic recording medium in the low frequency band, by laminating the first magnetic thin film whose incident angle is varied continuously from low to high, and the second magnetic thin film whose incident angle is varied in reverse, on a base body. CONSTITUTION:The first magnetic thin film 1 having curved and slanting columnar structure 11 is formed by making a flexible base body B run in one direction, and vapor-depositing a magnetic metallic material, continuously increasing an incident angle of a vapor flow to a high incident angle of 45-90 deg. from a low incident angle of 45-90 deg. against a normal of the base body B, from an evaporation source. Subsequently, the second magnetic thin film 2 having curved and slanting columnar structure 12 is laminated by vapor-depositing a magnetic mettalic material, continuously varying the incident angle of the vapor flow to a low incident angle from a high incident angle in the direction being symmetrical to a normal of the base body B. In this way, it is possible to obtain a magnetic recording medium which adheres closely to a base material, is excellent in an abrasion resisting property and a weather resisting property, and has improved a frequency characteristic of a reproducing output.
