Abstract
PURPOSE:To utilize the entire amt. of an inoculant efficiently and to prevent the lack of penetration completely by adding the powder inoculant to pouring flow in an intermediate trough between a pouring port and a mold. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal in an automatic pouring machine passes through a spout part 2 and arrives at a trough 3 when the pressure in said machine is increased. When a stopper 4 is taken up, it flows into an intermediate though 5. An inoculant is added to this molten metal 9 flowed therein through an inculation pipe 8 from a hopper 7. Thence, the molten metal 9 goes out from the pouring port 10 of the trough 5 and is charged through a mold pouring port 11 into a mold 6. Since the inoculant is used in the form of powder, it is low in cost, and since it is added on the trough 5, it is used in entire amt. without scattering to the other; therefore the rate of inoculation of the molten metal is controlled constant and the wasteful losses are eliminated. The inoculant penetrates thoroughly into the molten metal 9 owing to the oscillation of the molten metal 9, and provides a sufficient effect as the inoculant.
