Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to detect a deceleration point accurately even in the case where a sliding is present between an unwinder and a coiled belt shaped material, by a method wherein the travel distance of a belt-shaped material is calculated from the traveling velocity of the material and the residual length is calculated. CONSTITUTION:A travel distance calculator 20 is fed with the traveling velocity v of the belt shaped material 2 calculated by a traveling velocity calculator 16, and by using the formula l2= o<t>vdt, it calculates the actual travel distance l2 by which the material 2 is unwound from the unwinder 1 after it has received from a coil diameter detector 19 a signal indicating that the coil diameter on the rewinder 1 has become not larger than a predetermined value. Then, a residual length calculator 15a is fed with an output of the coil diameter D2 from the detector 19 and with an output of said distance l2, and calculates the residual length l by which the material is wound on the rewinder 1 between the coil diameter at present and the coil diameter D0 with which the material should be stopped or the deceleration should be finished.
