Abstract

PURPOSE:To continuously and effectively treat a large amount of underground water at low cost by a method in which the underground water in the ground to be excavated is directed into a water collection tank and then released through a drain pipe buried in the ground behind a cut-off wall by means of the head of the underground water. CONSTITUTION:Spring water in the ground to be excavated or underground water pumped up from well point or deep well is directed into a water collection tank 5 on the ground by a water pumping system 7. In the water collection tank 5, the ground water is filtered to remove sand and impurities, stored temporarily, and then released by opening the adjusting valve 10 of each downcast pipe 9 under a condition that the level of water in the tank 5 is kept within almost a fixed range. The released water is continuously returned into the ground 6 behind a cut-off wall in the ground to be excavated through a drain pipe 11 by means of gravity based on its potential head.
