Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable free adjusting of a fall speed of water gate without the use of a centrifugal brake and to permit a water gate to be shut down perfectly, by a method wherein a reversing lock mechanism, a releasing mechanism, and a reversing power transmitting mechanism are mounted between a driving shaft and a driven shaft. CONSTITUTION:The positive turning force of a handle 20 is transferred to a handle shaft 20a, a pad disc 21, and a clutch disc 17, and is transferred to a driving shaft 7 resulting from engagement of a key 16 with a key recess 16a to transfer it to a reduction gear 10, a drive pinion 8, and a rack member 4, which results in a water gate 3. Even if the handle 20 is left from a hand, a force, which causes the driving shaft 7 to reverse under the own weight of the water gate 3, is exerted on a brake press contact disc 13 which is brought into a press with a brake disc 14 and a stationary frame 5a to lock the disc 13. If the handle 20 is reversed, the force is exerted on the brake press contact disc 13 so that it is separated from the brake disc 14 through the working of a clutch pin 18 and an idle channel 19, and the lock is released, which results in causing the water gate 3 to fall.
