Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which is easily soluble in water, has no fear of explosion and fire hazard, and is non-toxic, by incorporating a composite compd. of zinc phosphate and zinc ferrite into a vehicle composed mainly of an emulsion of a styrene-acrylic ester copolymer resin.
CONSTITUTION: A rust-inhibiting water paint compsn. is obtd. by incorporating as rust inhibiting paints 5W100pts.wt. composite compd. of zinc phosphate such as zinc aluminum phosphate or zinc phosphorosilicate, and 5W100pts.wt. zinc ferrite into 100pts.wt. (on a resin solid basis) vehicle composed mainly of an emulsion of a styrene-acrylic ester copolymer resin. This paint compsn. can be easily diluted with water, does not contain any harmful pigments such as lead, copper or chromium component, and thus has no fear of explosion and fire hazard. When this paint compsn. is coated on the surfaces of steel structures, it exhibits excellent weather resistance, rust-inhibiting ability and adhesion.
