Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which has excellent resistance to chemicals, moisture and weather, and is a non-metallic type and suitable for use in coating automobile, by blending a thermosetting acrylic resin and an amino resin with an alkyd resin having a number-average MW within a specified range.
CONSTITUTION: 20W100pts.wt. thermosetting acrylic resin (B) having a number- average MW of 2,000W5,000 and a glass transition point of 0W50°C obtd. by polymerizing a polymerizable monomer such as acrylic acid, and 30W100pts.wt. amino resin (C) such as melamine resin, urea resin or guanamine resin, are blended with 100pts.wt. alkyd resin (A) having a number-averrage MW of 700W 2,000 obtd. by using a polyhydric alcohol such as ethylene glycol, a polybasic acid such as phthalic acid and an oil such as soybean oil, to produce the desired thermosetting high solid paint compsn. When this compsn. is coated and baked at 120W160°C for 15W40min, there can be obtd. an excellent cured film.
