Abstract

PURPOSE:In a V-engine having an intake manifold provided with a hot water riser, to simplify the coupling of the cylinder head of the engine with its intake manifold, by connecting a head jacket and the hot water riser to each other through cooling water passages in a cylinder block. CONSTITUTION:Cylinder blocks 1 arranged as V are provided with cooling water jackets 2 which communicates with the cooling water jackets 4 of cylinder heads 5 located over the cylinder blocks. An intake manifold 7 having a hot water riser 6 is located between the cylinder heads 5. An intake pipe 9 communicates with intake ports 11. Cooling water form the jacket 4 of the cylinder head 5 flows to the hot water riser 6 through cooling water passage 8, 8a, 8b provided in the body of the cylinder block 1. According to this constitution, the contact surfaces of the cylinder head 5 and the intake manifold 7 do not need to be kept liquid-tight. For thtat reason, machining is facilitated.
