Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent breakdown due to voltages and fields effectively, whenever either positive or negative excessive input signal is applied by a method wherein when a protective circuit of MOSFET IC is formed using a bipolar transistor, a resistor and a diode. CONSTITUTION:When an input protective circuit is provided between an internal circuit 13 of an IC composed of MOSFET and an input terminal 11, it is constructed of an NPN type bipolar transistor TR1, a protective resistor R2 and a diode D2. In this arrangement the terminal 11 is connected to the base and the collector of the transistor Tr1, the emitter is connected to a power source VDD, the protective resistor R2 is provided between the collector and the internal circuit 13, and to the line between them the grounded diode D2 is connected to form a branch. By this constitution when a positive excessive input is applied, an excessive current is exhausted into the power source VDD, and when a negative excessive input is applied, it is exhausted to the ground through the diode D2.
