Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a traveling body to perform such motions as ascending and descending a stairway and passing over an obstacle by independently driving a rotary arm body and wheels.
CONSTITUTION: When the wheel 6a collides against the first step 22a, said condition is detected by a travel controlling mechanism and the rotary arm body 3 is rotated forwards. As a resulut, the arm body 3 is moved upwardly with the wheel 6a as a pivotal center, and the next wheel 6b is brought into contact with the upper surface of the next wheel 6b is brought into contact with the upper surface of the step 22a. Then, further rotating the arm body 3 results in that the body 3 is moved upwardly with the wheel 6b as a pivotal center and is lifted above the step 22a. When the arm body 3 is rotated by 120°, the rotation is stoped and the body 3 is fixed to be unable to rotate, in which condition the traveling body is traveled on the upper surface of the step 22a by rotating the wheels 6a, 6b, 6c forwardly. When the wheel 6b collides against the second step 22b, said condition is detected by the travel controlling mechanism and the arm body 3 is rotated again so that the traveling body is moved onto the step 22b. In such a manner, the traveling body ascends the stairway 22 step by step.
