Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. in which surface hardness, rigidity, dimensional accuracy, etc. are improved, by blending hemp, a hemp-like fiber or a mixture thereof with a thermoplastic resin.
CONSTITUTION: 0.5W20pts.wt. hemp (e.g. flax, ramie or hemp), hemp-like fiber (e.g. Indian mallow, cambric or kenaf) or mixture thereof after treating the surface of the fiber or without treating the surface, is blended with 10pts.wt. thermoplstic resin such as PVC, PE or PP. When the fiber whose surface is not treated is blended, surface hardness and rigidity are remarkably improved and dimensional accuracy is also greatly improved. At the same time, heat distortion temperature is also improved. When the fiber whose surface is treated is used, there can be obtd. products which are characterized by excellent hardness, good dimensional accuracy and Izod impact strength, etc.
