Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a piercing die in which necessity of the backside space for the button die is eliminated by constituting the die so that the scrap of the punched panel is taken out as the piercing punch is retreated while the scrap is crushed with a projection installed inside the front end of the button die and a socket installed inside the front end of the piercing punch.
CONSTITUTION: As a cam slide 17 moves forward, a punch hole 11' is pierced into a panel 11 with a piercing punch 10 which pulnges into a button die 12, and a blanked scrap 11a is thrusted into a socket 13 with the front end of the punch 10 and the projection of the die 12 while the scrap is crushed to a conical shape. When the slide starts to move backward, the scrape 11a kept in the punch 10 is taken out to the front of the die 12 together with the punch 10 while the scrap 11a is maintained in the socket 13. When the slide 17 is returned to a prescribed location, a retreating part 14a of a knock-out in pin 14 is brought into collision with a pusher pin 20, and the pin 14 is maintained at the position against the pressure of a spring 15. Since the slide 17 continuously moves backward, the scrap 11a is pushed forward from the socket 13 and dropped into a discharge hole 21.
