Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible to set freely the antiglare effect by providing an electrooptic shutter of liquid crystal by approaching the effective surface of reflectio, and controlling the antiglare effect in accordance with the quantity of incident ray into the antiglare mirror with the use of an optical detector and feedback system. CONSTITUTION:A metallic sputtered diaphragms 6 made of Ag and Al, which serve both as a reflecting diaphragm and an electrode are attached to a flat substrate 7, and a passivated diaphragm 5 of SiO2 is provided on it. A transparent electrode 2 is attached to a transparent glass plate 1 and is connected to the outside. Two sheets of the substrate 7 and the glass plate 1 are treated by a vertical orientation treating agent, and a constant gap is given by a spacer 4. From the view point of orientation control of a liquid crystal, it is suitable to execute vertical orientation treatment on, at least, either one of two substrates after performing diagonal vapour deposition such as SiO. As an optical ddtector of visual ray, photoconductive cells, represented by CdS, can be used.
