Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the rotating torque of a bearing in an arbitrary load state by acting both radial and thrust loads to the bearing by means of joints having arbitrary elasticity. CONSTITUTION:Radial load is generated by a radial load oil hydrualic cylinder 7, and is transmitted from a radial load arm 8 to a sample secured to a load housing 1 by means of connecting rods 12a, 12b having spherical sliding bearings 9 and elastic joints 11 mounted on the right and left, and spherical sliding bearings 10 disposed symmetrically on the right and left. Strain gages are affixed to the arm 8 to form a bridge, by which radial load and rotating torque are detected. Strain gages 27 are affixed in the suitable positions on both sides in the thrust load direction of a thrust load arm 17 to form a bridge, whereby the thrust load at the acting point is electrically detected. Statin gages for detecing rotating torque are affixed to the suitable positions on both sides at the right angle to the thrust load direction, whereby the load of the acting point part is detected and the rotating torque is measured.
