Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an olefin (co)polymer having excellent processability etc. in high yields, by continuously polymerizing an olefin monomer (s) in slurry in the presence of a highly active Ziegler catalyst by use of a tubular reactor.
CONSTITUTION: Into a tubular reactor is fed continuously a mixture prepared by diluting, with a solvent such as a C4WC7 paraffin compound, an olefin such as ethylene, propylene or butene-1, in which has been dispersed a supported Ziegler catalyst having such a high activity as to provide an olefin (co)polymer yield per hour of 5,000W1,000,000g. And the olefin (co)polymer produced by maintaining the temperature within the reactor at 30W120°C is separated continuously from the reaction solution. Moreover, the olefin (co)polymer is produced efficiently and continuously by preventing the polymer from depositing on the reactor wall by maintaining the flow rate of the reaction solution within the reactor at 2W20m/sec.
