Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the safety by making the mechanism to confirm the lighting of the stop lamp double the mechanism to detect the amount of abrasion of the braking component, by using the optical fiber.
CONSTITUTION: Optical fiber 10 is buried into braking component 13 with a certain depth secured from the abrasion surface and in the course of the transmission line formed by fiber 10. The light of stop lamp 12 is sent to display unit 15 through fiber 10 for emission as long as the abrasion of component 13 does not reach the limit point of burying. Thus the assuredness of the braking action can be confirmed. When the abrasion progresses to cause the disconnection of fiber 10, the light of lamp 12 does not reach unit 15 although lamp 12 may glow at brake working time. Thus no light is emitted from unit 15 to detect that component 13 is worn out exceeding the limit of abrasion. In case the filament of lamp 12 is burnt out, unit 15 has no light emission at the brake working time althrough the abrasion of component 13 is not so much. Thus the filament burn-out can be detected for the lamp.
