Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease energy consumption by supplying powdery iron ore and flux to a reduction melting furnace from above and slack or fuel reducing agent fro below, reducing the iron ore by the reducing gas produced by burning these and melt- reducing the same in the slagmelt-reducing bath in the furnace bottom.
CONSTITUTION: Powdery iron ore and flux such as coal are charged from the raw material charging nozzle 2 in the top part of a reduction melting furnace 1, and slack or fuel reducing agent such as heavy gravity oil is blown through the tuyeres 10 or blow nozzles 11 in the lower part and these are burned to produce a reducing gas. This causes the descending iron ore to be heated and reduced by the reducing gas ascending in a fluid state. Thence, it is melt-reduced in the slag melt-reducing bath (a) in the furnace bottom which is being fluidized and agitated by the blast from the tuyeres 10.
