Abstract

PURPOSE: To monitor a change of a crack with the passage of time to prospect a life of a casing by detecting a depth of the crack with a current input line and a voltage measuring line which are fitted on a casing.
CONSTITUTION: A current input line 4 and a voltage measuring line 5 are fixed on a valve casing 1, and a constant current is supplied to them from a constant-current generator 7 to record a change of voltage valued with the passage of time by a voltage recorder 8. A depth and a position of a crack can be judged from the values to prevent steam leakage. An outbreaking and development of a crack in a surface of the casing 1 can be thus automatically monitored with the passage of time without open the casing 1 or disassembling a heat insulating material, etc.
