Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent microscopical deformation and abrasion of sliding members and enable their long-term use by using Al (alloy) for the surfaces of the sliding members and forming the sliding surface parts coated with soft metals via anodic oxidation film formed on the surfaces thereof.
CONSTITUTION: In a sliding device of an internal combustion engine etc., the sliding surfaces of one or both sliding members 1 are made of Al (alloy) and an anodic oxide film 2 is formed on the surface thereof to ≥7μ thickness. An electroless Ni plating layer 4 is adhered on said film 2 and further a sliding surface 6 coated with soft metals such as Sn, Pb, Zn is formed. The coating film of soft metals is also formed on the surface of a sliding member 8 pairing to this sliding member 1. The thickness of the soft metal layers is kept at 7W30μ in whole. Thereby, the fitting characteristic of the sliding surfaces is improved and the galling, seizure, etc. on the sliding surfaces of pistons. cylinders, etc. are decreased.
