Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain refined coal of high calories easily and continuously by fixing a screen which diagonally crosses the surface of the charged powdered coal slurry and of which the end faces the outlet into a refining vessel and providing a vibrating device which vibrates the vessel.
CONSTITUTION: Powdered coal slurry raw material (a) contg. a fine particlelike fat or oil binder is charged through a raw material feed port 2 into the sedimentation separating chamber 8 in a refining vessel 1, and the level of the surface a1 is maintained to the extent that only the root end part (f) of the dense screen 11 is immersed. As a result, suspended matter (d) floats to the upper layer of the raw material (a), and nonlipophilic ash content is discharged as a slurry (e) from an outlet 5. The suspended matter (d) moves on the dense screen 11 to the leading end side while undergoing dehydration and granulating, and is taken out from the end thereof as refined coal (b) through an outlet 3.
