Abstract

PURPOSE: To heat water efficiently while utilizing the heat of fermentation obtained in a fermentation pit by a method wherein heat-accumulating stones having a large heat capacity are contained in a water storage tank to enhance heat-insulating properties, and the tank is placed on the fermentation pit filled with compost, chicken dung or the like.
CONSTITUTION: Heat-insulating plates 4 are fitted at the lateral and bottom parts of a frame 2 in the shape of a rectangular parallelpiped, thereby constructing the main body of a box, and the top opening of the box is covered with a layer 5 of a good heat conductor. The layer 5 is composed of a black aluminum plate 6 arranged directly above a water storage layer 9, two transparent reinforced glass plates 7 separately arranged above the aluminum plate 6 and two air layers 8 formed therebetween. Water is fed from a feed water pipe 11 into the water storage layer 9, where it is heated, and the hot-water is tapped via a hot-water supply pipe 12. In addition, a plurality of the heat-accumulating stones 13 are filled in the water storage layer 9 to restrain the hot-water from being cooled. The water heater is placed on the fermentation pit 16 containing the compost 17 or the like as required, so that the heat of fermentation can also be utilized to heat water.
