Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise up rigidity of the upper panel at the rear edge of a car trank against the load applied to it in the fore and backward direction by mounting firmly a box-shaped member between this upper panel and the rear floor by welding. CONSTITUTION:This reinforcement 4 has a profile falling from the top of rear upper panel 3 smoothly down to the rear floor 5, and is spot-welded 7 to the rear upper panel 3 and arc-welded 8 at its undermost to the rear floor 5, forming a box. According to this arrangement, the reinforcement 4 is connected firmly to the rear floor 5 which is born by a rear end cross member 6 screened against the outside by a rear floor panel 2, so that this has a large rigidity against external force in F-F' direction. If this is applied around the center, in the car width direction, of the rear upper panel 3, the reinforcement effect not only in the vertical direction but also in the fore and backward direction can be obtained.
