Abstract

PURPOSE:To automate the step of manufacturing the reflection type photocoupler by providing light emitting and receiving pellets on a metallic lead wire of a flat metallic strip and molding both the pellets with transparent resin to incorporate a cutout part between the pellets. CONSTITUTION:The light emitting and receiving pellets 3 and 4 are placed on a carrying lead frame 13, a light emitting pellet carrying lead wire 131, a light receiving pellet carrying lead wire 132 and electrode lead wires 133, 134 are provided on a lead frame 13, and are wire bonded to the electrode lead wires. Then, the transparent resin 14 is molded on both surfaces of the lead frame 13, and the cutout 15 is formed therebetween. A tape is bonded to the surface carrying the pellets 3, 4 of the resin 14, is dipped in nontransparent resin 17, and nontransparent part is formed thereon. Further, the frame part of the lead frame 13 is cut as respective products.
