Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled cover glass with superior strength, hardness, ultraviolet-ray absorbing properties and workability by bringing glass having a special composition consisting of SiO2, Na2O, CaO, Fe2O3, MgO, Al2O3 and SO3 into contact with a molten K salt to form a surface compressive stress layer.
CONSTITUTION: Glass having a composition consisting of, by weight 65W73% SiO2, 10W20% Na2O, 5W15% CaO, 0.05W0.2% Fe2O3, ≤5% MgO, ≤0.5% Al2O3 and ≤0.5% SO3 is dipped in a molten K salt such as KNO3 to form a surface compressive stress layer having 50W65kg/mm2 stress value and 10W20μ depth by ion exchange at 380W480°C for 1W5hr.
