Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove lead economically from industrial waste water, by reacting lead contained in the waste water with thioalcohols, then by neutralizing the reaction soln. with NaOH soln. etc., and by adding a flocculant to settle the floc, hereby lead content of the supernatant soln. is reduced to a level not higher than a prescribed value.
CONSTITUTION: Sulfuric acid waste soln. contg. lead supplied 26 to a storage tank 27 is sent to a neutralizing tank 29, where mercuryremoving agent available on the market, shown by a formula R-S-Sn (where R is an org. polymeric group) or R- S-H, and NaOH or slaked lime are added while stirring 30 to be adjusted to 7W 8pH. Then the pH adjusted soln. is led into a conditioner 31, where polyaluminum chloride or org. plymeric flocculant is added while stirring 32 to form floc. The treated soln. is sent to a thickener 33 so as to ppt. floc, the supernatant soln. being filtered by a rapid sand filter 35, and the filtrate is discharged 37 through a storage tank 36. ppt. soln. accumulated at the bottom of the thickener 33 is fed to a filter press 39, the filtrate being returned to the thickener 33.
