Abstract
PURPOSE:Hard metal tool, having an excellent abrasion resistance and forming a fixed thickness coating by coating three kinds of coating layer of specific components on the surface of base material using the hard metal of specific component composition as the base material. CONSTITUTION:Hard metal composed of one kind or two kinds or more of carbide, carbonitride and nitride of of 4a, 5a, 6a groups of periodic law table and one kind or two kinds or more of iron, Co and Ni, are used as base material. The first coating layer (inner layer) composed of one kind of titanium carbide, titanium carbonitride, titanium nitride, is formed on the surface of said material and diffusion of Co from the base material is prevented and a good adhesive property is obtained. The second coating layer (middle layer) composed of titanium silicide, is formed at 0.2-2mum thickness and adhesion to inner and outer layers is improved. The third layer (outer layer) composed of alumimum oxide, is formed at 2-5mum thickness and oxidation is prevented. Total thickness of three layers is 5-15mum.
