Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure a highly efficient improvement of the power factor over a wide range, by actuating the compensating circuit when the load current exceeds the prescribed value and then opening the circuit when the advance power factor is obtained.
CONSTITUTION: The level detector LD produces the output when the primary current of the transformer Tr increases along the primary current curve II and then exceeds the set value I1. And then the one-shot circuit OS produces the output for a fixed time, and the memory circuit FF is set to give an ignition to the thryistors ThA1 and ThA2. Then the reactive power compensating circuit CLCA is connected to the secondary winding N22, and the primary current and its power factor transfers as I1→I2 and P1→P2 respectively. Then the increase of the primary current is secured along the curve II', and the power factor varies along the power factor characteristic curve I' to always secure the improvement of the power factor. When the power factor exceeds 1 and then the time point of the advance phase and the time point of P3=1 respectively, the reset output R given from the phase deciding circuit PD erases the output of the circuit FF. Thus the thyristors ThA1 and ThA2 have the extinction of arc, and then the circuit CLCA is released from the winding N22.
